Support the Wayne County Humane Society
Our shelter pets consume an average of 245 pounds of dry food and 294 cans of wet food each week. That's a lot of food! It takes a lot of supplies to keep the shelter running and we always appreciate in-kind donations of supplies. Check out our wish list above!
Foster a Pet
If you are interested in providing short-term support to a pet in need, please consider joining our network of foster homes. We need foster homes for cats and dogs of all ages and, occasionally, small animals, such as rabbits and guinea pigs. Foster families provide in-home care for a pet until the pet can be adopted. Care responsibilities include providing food, water, shelter, socialization, and affection.
If a foster pet needs medical attention, the foster family may have to transport the pet for veterinary care. During peak kitten times, we may also need fosters who are willing to bottle feed motherless kittens. This is a responsibility that requires extra care and attention. If you are willing to provide this level of care, please indicate your interest in your foster application.
Donate Funds
Did you know that adoption fees do not cover the complete cost of care for our animals? The rest is covered by donated funds. Please consider making a tax-deductible financial donation to help us continue caring for the homeless pets in our community.
Whether your gift is $5 or $2,000, your tax-deductible donation goes directly to supporting our mission to...
-
Find committed, permanent homes for companion animals in the community.
-
Measurably reduce companion animal overpopulation.
-
Educate and promote humane values.
Financial donations can be designated to directly support shelter operartions or specific initiatives, such as our emergency medical fund, which is used for animals in need of serious medical care.
The most convenient way to donate is by setting up a reoccurring donation. All reoccurring donations go directly to our general fund.
Financial donations can be mailed to the shelter or submitted electronically by clicking the button below.
