As the entire world focuses on the impact of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), we at the Wayne County Humane Society continue to concentrate on providing the best quality care for our beloved animals. In an effort to protect our staff, volunteers and patrons, we have established a contingency plan in the event the risk to the public escalates.

This global pandemic will likely affect our events, staff, volunteers and our economy. As we cross into the unknown, we need your support now more than ever.
Currently we are remaining open but kindly ask the public to refrain from visiting the shelter unless you have an approved adoption application.
Prior to your visit you can view our adoptable animals on our website
as well as complete an adoption application online. http://www.wchs.org/animals/adopt-pet/adoption-application. Once your application has been approved, you will be contacted by our staff to schedule an appointment to meet your forever friend (if it isn't a match, you are not obligated to adopt. Applications are good for 90 days).
If you find a stray cat or would like to surrender an animal, please contact the shelter to set up an appointment.
To limit the potential spread of the virus, if you are sick with cold or flu-like symptoms, have returned from recent travel, or have had contact with someone with similar symptoms, please do not enter the shelter.
Our hope is to resume normal business hours by April 1st. We will continue to update the public as we receive more information from the state of Ohio.
We currently have over 100 animals that depend on us. They are unable to care for themselves and rely on us for food, water, companionship and love. Although we are concerned for the health of everyone, our pets are our #1 priority and we ask for your support and compassion during this time.

Emergency Care Fund

We have an Emergency Care Fund that was created to help provide care for especially sick and/or injured animals under our care. Diagnosis and care of severe illnesses or injuries can costs hundreds or even thousands of dollars. This fund will ensure that we can continue to provide these types of services when we are faced with animals in dire need.

Any amount would be greatly appreciated. Please donate today!

Lots of ways to give...

Would you like to make a gift to our general fund or maybe set up an automatic monthly gift? Maybe you'd like to sponsor an animal - there are lots of ways to support WCHS

We can always use volunteers...

Share your talents with us. Whether you want to be hands-on in the shelter with the animals, help from home with administrative work, or support us at events, we can use your help! Read about what our volunteers do. Have another idea about how you can help? Please contact us or fill out our volunteer inquiry form!
